Our Perspective : Experience Matters
The information age has made enormous amounts of information available about companies and the people who lead them. In addition to traditional information sources, social networks are increasingly "connecting" people in the same industry, or profession. The recruiter's proprietary "rolodex" is no longer so private and exclusive.
We've been doing search long enough to have gotten pretty good at it. One of the things we've learned is that top performing executives are almost always well regarded by their employer and must be convinced to consider a move. When approached by a seasoned senior level recruiter, they are more likely to listen than when they are contacted by junior staff.
Assessing fit, serving as a compelling advocate for the client and counseling both the client and the candidate during the recruitment process requires wisdom, empathy and perspective. In short, experience matters.
Over the past 20 years, we've watched careers soar, crash and be reborn. We've watched companies flatten, reengineer, become "e", lose their way, get acquired, start-up, close down and everything in between.
